Record an expense, income or transfer
Record an expense or income with its amount and account in the entry form. Moving money between your accounts has a separate flow and does not count as spending.
An entry describes something that happened: money paid, received or moved between your accounts. To make your figures useful, record the actual amount and choose the account involved, even when two accounts use the same currency.
Prepare the information
The account identifies where money left or arrived; the category explains what the transaction was for. For example, transport is a category, while your cash is an account. Choosing one does not replace the other.
Also check the payment date and currency. An older transaction should keep its actual date so it appears in the correct period, even if you record it today.
Record an expense or income
- Open the entry form using the add button in your everyday view.
- Choose Expense for money paid or Income for money received.
- Enter an amount greater than zero.
- Choose the category and account that match the transaction; check the displayed currency.
- Check the date. Add a description if it helps you recognise the transaction.
- Review the whole entry, then tap Add once it is ready.
The form also lets you add details, including a note or receipt. These help you remember the transaction; they do not replace checking the amount, category or account.
A complete example
You pay 2,500 FCFA for transport from your cash on Monday but enter the purchase on Tuesday. Choose a 2,500 FCFA expense, the transport category, your cash account and Monday’s date. The account decreases by that amount and the expense joins the relevant period’s totals.
For money received, use the same reasoning with income and a suitable category. Avoid recording income simply because you are moving money you already own.
Move money between accounts
To represent a bank withdrawal into cash, open the relevant account, then Move money. Check the source account, destination account and amount before confirming. The two accounts must be different.
A move reduces one account and increases the other. It is not a new budget expense. If the currencies differ, also review the conversion information and displayed arrival amount before confirming.
Find and check the entry
After saving, find the transaction in the relevant account’s journal. Check its amount, direction and date; for an older date, look in the corresponding period rather than only looking at today.
If the add button remains unavailable, first check that a positive amount and a category are filled in and that saving is not already in progress. On a shared account, entry options also depend on the right you were given.
If something is wrong, open the transaction to edit it rather than creating another one. Offline, a saved entry initially stays on this phone; appearing elsewhere depends on syncing. These actions maintain your journal: they do not initiate payments or bank transfers.
